South - Community Crime Prevention Fund - Round 2 2013/2014

Submissions closed at 5:00PM 28 February 2014 (NZDT).

This scheme provides funding for initiatives that improve safety in public places.

The purpose of the fund is to support community groups providing programmes and initiatives that target the most at-risk victims and high-priority crimes in the above areas.

Who can apply?

Community and voluntary organisations that work in the following local board areas are eligible:

  • Franklin
  • Howick
  • Mangere-Otahuhu
  • Manurewa
  • Otara-Papatoetoe and
  • Papakura

Groups requesting more than $3000 must have legal status (i.e. be an incorporated society or registered charitable trust) or apply under the umbrella of an organisation that does.

When funding is available

There will be two rounds of funding for 2013/2014.

The first round will open on 1 June and close on 28 June 2013.

The second round will close on 28 February 2014.

Fund guidelines

Applications are invited from not-for-profit community groups with projects that address the following priority areas:

Crimes

  • burglary and theft of/from and/or damage to vehicles
  • general violence and violent crime (including sexual violence)
  • family violence and child abuse

Focus groups

  • Youth and children
    • 'Youth at risk of offending' programmes and/or
    • Young offenders (medium to high risk) programmes and/or
    • Crime prevention programmes for children
  • People with drug and/or alcohol addictions
  • Māori
  • Pacific Island peoples

Projects that are eligible for central government contract funding are not eligible for assistance from council.
