Waitakere Ranges Local Board Community Group Funding - 2014/2015 Round 1

Submissions closed at 5:00PM 17 October 2014 (NZDT).

Applicants are encouraged to read the relevant Local Board Plan before submitting an application. You will be asked to identify how your project aligns with the local board’s priorities. Local board plans can be ordered from the call centre on (09) 301 0101, picked up from your local library or Council service centre or viewed online at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/localboardplans.

The Waitakere Ranges Local Board recognises the vital role that community groups and organisations play in developing diverse, strong, inclusive, connected and sustainable communities. We will encourage efforts that give effect to the priorities in our Local Board Plan - such as environmental, cultural, arts, community development, recreational and heritage initiatives, and supporting our youth and Maori.

The Local Board Community Grant aims to assist groups to provide activities, projects, programmes, initiatives, and events that make a positive contribution within our local board area.

Objectives

Through community grants the Waitakere Ranges Local Board aims to build social capital within the local community by supporting projects that provide a community benefit, are equitable and inclusive and result in an ongoing gain to the local area.

Criteria

The Waitakere Ranges Local Board will generally give grants of between $200 and $5,000 due to the Board’s desire to distribute these funds widely in the community. The grants cannot be for something which has already happened or something that has been purchased. The Board will not also fund catering, salaries, vehicles, debt repayments or groups that will further redistribute the funds. Due consideration will be given to those who are legally constituted or who are using one of those as an umbrella group noting that this does not rule out other groups.

The Board in coming to its decision will consider the following factors:

  • The benefit of your proposal to the local area
  • Your group’s role in the local area
  • The alignment of your proposal with the priorities of the Board, such as:
  • young people
  • Maori
  • the environment
  • culture and arts
  • social cohesion
  • recreation and sport
  • heritage
  • Whether your group applies to receive the proceeds of gaming machines.

Groups that have failed to meet accountability obligations from previous Council grants (within the last five years) will not be funded except:

  • in exceptional mitigating circumstances, and/or
  • by stipulating that completing accountability is a condition of grant payment.

Please note:

  • You can save and close your application at any time before you submit it. Once submitted your application cannot be changed.
  • When you submit your application you will recieve a .pdf copy for your records and it will also be saved in your account.
