Section three: Roles and responsibilities

Exhibiting at Studio One Toi Tū is a little different from other galleries — it’s an exciting, artist-led model where you take the lead.

As an exhibiting artist, you're responsible for installing and de-installing your own work. We’ll provide clear guidelines to help you plan and carry this out.

If you anticipate needing technical advice, we do have a technician who may be able to provide guidance ahead of your install day — and in some cases, assist with more complex elements. However, please note that the ultimate responsibility for installation and de-installation lies with you.

As part of your exhibition at Studio One Toi Tū, we will:
- Promote your exhibition through our programme, social media, and exhibition invitations.
- Send details of your exhibition to everyone on our database, and provide you with a link to email your own contacts.
- Provide guidelines and information for an opening function.

As an exhibiting artist at Studio One Toi Tū, you will:

- Be responsible for the installation and de-installation of your exhibition
- Pay the required hire fee in full, at least two months prior to your exhibition booking
- Install all works securely and in line with your hire agreement and Studio One Toi Tū’s health and safety guidelines
- Discuss any large or heavy works with our technical staff well in advance
- Discuss any potentially hazardous aspects of your installation with our technical staff
- Ensure that all electrical equipment is tested and tagged prior to installation
- Give our technical team advance notice if you require their advice or assistance
- Take responsibility for the security of your work — please note that Studio One Toi Tū is not a secured space and cannot accept liability for loss or damage.
