North - Small Grants Fund Youth, 2014/2015

Criteria

This fund is designed to support existing youth service providers at the local level, by providing support for small capital purchases or projects. Funding is usually allocated in small amounts to a large number of organizations.

Who can apply?

Existing youth service providers based within the Rodney Local Board Area, or the Hibiscus Coast Subdivision of the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board, operating at the local level.

General conditions of funding:

  • For the purposes of the Large Grants Youth Fund, Youth are people aged between 12 and 24.
  • Activities must be carried out in the communities listed above.
  • No retrospective projects and activities can be funded (i.e. must not have begun before the local board has considered the application) and must start within 6-months of approval of funding.
  • The award of a grant does not automatically entitle the recipient to future grants.
  • Funding decisions made by the Council are final; no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Funding which has not been spent must be repaid to Council.

What cannot be funded:

  • projects that are inconsistent with the Council’s aims and objectives, or which may cause a conflict of interest for Council;
  • the sole benefit of an individual;
  • retrospective projects or costs;
  • the payment of legal fees or expenses; or
  • the purchase or subsidy of alcohol.

When funding is available

This is the only funding round for 2013/2014. It opened on 1 June and will close on 12 August 2013.

Fund guidelines

The expected benefits of the council providing small youth grants to youth service providers include:

  • increased participation by youth in influencing the future shaping of their community
  • access to safe social environments, activities and places to hang out
  • the ability to travel around the district safely
  • the ability to access and protect the natural environment
  • access to education, employment, career opportunities and services for young people
  • encouragement and strengthening existing youth service providers
  • improving community spirit and connectivity
  • supporting a wide and diverse range of activities
  • strengthening of the relationship between council and the community
  • promoting volunteering and social investment.
