Hibiscus and Bays Local Board Community Group Funding - 2014/2015 Round 1

Criteria

Applicants are encouraged to read the relevant Local Board Plan before submitting an application. You will be asked to identify how your project aligns with the local board’s priorities. Local board plans can be ordered from the call centre on (09) 301 0101, picked up from your local library or Council service centre or viewed online at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/localboardplans.

The Hibiscus and Bays Local Board recognises the vital role that community groups and organisations play in developing strong, sustainable communities. We want to build the capacity of our community groups and organisations. We will encourage efforts that give effect to the priorities in our Local Board Plan.

The Local Board Discretionary Community Grant aims to assist groups to provide activities, projects, programmes, initiatives, and events that make a positive contribution within our local board area.

Objectives

Through community grants, the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board aims to:

  • Support vibrant local communities
  • Ensure a wide range of community activities, projects, programmes, initiatives and events are supported at a local level
  • Support proposals that align with the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board Plan priorities and the needs identified across the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board area

The Hibiscus and Bays Local Board has the following criteria for its discretionary community grant:

  • All applications must align with the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board’s and Auckland Council’s strategic outcomes, aims and objectives
  • Activities must be carried out within the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board area
  • The Hibiscus and Bays Local Board and Auckland Council will not commit to ongoing funding or financial support
  • Funding that has not been spent in accordance with the funding contract must be repaid to the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board

Generally, the following proposals will not qualify or be considered for financial assistance;

  • Activities not directly related to a recreational, social service or community activity
  • Applications to subsidise rentals, reduce debt loadings or the payment of rates
  • Applications for the purpose or subsidy of alcohol or costs associated with staging after-match functions
  • Grants for the sole purpose of an individual
  • Family reunions
  • Prizes for sports and other events (except trophies)
  • Portable electronic equipment
  • Retrospective projects
  • The purchase of vehicles
  • Payment of legal fees or expenses.
